SAFETY
TREATMENT
Slip
Safe microscopically alters the surface of the tile to make it safer
when wet.
PROVEN SAFETY AND HYGENIC
Studies
have shown that the accident rates in hotel bathrooms and
homes have fallen dramatically with the use of slip resistant
treatments like Slip Safe. Further, Slip
Safe also eliminates the need for unhygienic bath
mats.
APPEARANCE AFTER TREATMENT
People
who believe their safety IS an important issue
believe Slip Safe is a miracle. It makes their
daily lives SAFER with LITTLE DIFFERENCE
to the appearance of the tile.
THE TREATMENT
Slip
Safe microscopically alters the surface of the tile. It enlarges the natural
pores of the tile to create microscopic holes that work
similar to the suction cups that you use to stick objects
to windows. eg:
sunvisors and L Plates on cars.
CAREFULLY CONSIDER
Am
I scared for my own safety? Am I scared for others safety?
If yes, perhaps your tiles should be treated. Consider the
following:
- Is safety important to me?
- Will some loss of shine concern me?
- Will Slip Safe create a cleaning problem? eg
white, light pink tiles. There are solutions to these
tiles. Ring or discuss with the Slip Safe
representative when they arrive.

| F.A.Q |
| IS IT A COATING? |
No,
Slip Safe is not a coating like paint. Slip
Safe is a chemical reaction, altering the surface
of the tile, so it can not peel or chip away. |
| WHERE CAN IT BE USED? |
Slip
Safe can be used on tiles, terrazzo, marble, granite, concrete, slate
and some paving bricks in all kinds of areas.
Eg: Bathrooms, verandahs, toilets, swimming pools, hallways and laundries
in both domestic and commercial environments. |
| TIME - TO TREAT |
Approximately
one to two hours to treat a bathroom. |
| TIME - BEFORE USE |
The
bathroom can be used immediately after treatment. |
| HOW LONG WILL IT LAST? |
Slip
Safe can only be worn
away. In domestic situations
treatment will last up to and in excess of 5 to 10 years,
and in any event, the life of the surface of the tile. Like
a shoe it depends on the amount of use. |
CLEANING GRIMEY AREAS
Proper
cleaning method is important for stubborn, hard to clean particles;
eg soap and body fats in shower recesses,
fats in kitchens or polish transferred to treated areas by mops.
If
the suction cups are filled with soaps, fats, oils etc..
in kitchens, bathrooms etc, then the
treatment becomes ineffective in preventing falls. Blocked
hole = No suction cup = Slippery Floor.
SCRUB AND FLUSH
SOLUTION: SCRUB floor with stiff
broom and FLUSH with water.
| What
To Clean With? |
| CLEANING AGENTS |
Any
pure cleaner is ok. Do not use cleaners with a polish component,
as polish blocks the suction cups. Specialised
cleaners are available from Slip Safe. |
| BROWN VINEGAR |
Brown
vinegar is excellent for tiles and it seems to help to restore
the luster of treated tiles. |
| EUCALYPTUS |
Spot
clean stubborn marks with eucalyptus should they appear.
|
| SOAP SCUM |
Citro and slightly acidic cleaners eg Brown
Vinegar; Scrub
and flush. |
WHY SCRUB? WHY FLUSH?
Once the floor is totally clean you will notice your floor is slip
resistant again. SCRUB to dislodge hard to remove particles with
scrubbing brush, deck broom or similar. DON’T WIPE: Wiping soaps,
fats and oils etc over the treatment only spreads them further.
So once dislodged with scrubbing, FLUSH down drain with plenty of
water – eg bucket, hose or turn on shower.
CLEANING NON-GRIMEY AREAS
Include bathroom floors, laundries,
passages etc. Clean normally for normal living and lightly soiled
areas; eg dirt and fluff.
FREQUENCY OF CLEANING
Depends on use. Domestic shower recesses
once a week/fortnight. Commercial kitchens should be done daily.
In any event – when it becomes slippery. Sweep/squirt with a hose
or both outside verandahs, patios and pool surrounds.
MY TREATMENT IS GONE
After six or so months, some people
claim the treatment has become ineffective. Not So!
Treated surfaces only become ineffective when they are not being
cleaned properly. To be effective, the created suction cups must
be kept clean.
CHANGES TO APPEARANCE OF TILES
From a distance, treated tiles will
look similar to untreated tiles, but a critical eye will note
the following:
SHINE: Some gloss will be lost.
COLOUR: The colour stays the same, but
some loss of colour may be apparent
OXIDISATION: Oxidisation causes a whitish
tinge on the tile, which gradually lighten’s and disappears with time.(please
note: Oxidisation may always be slightly
noticeable on darker services such as black tiles).
